February 20, 1982 Pat Benatar marries her guitarist, Neil Giraldo. Many rock-and-roll and marriages flame out quickly, but this one takes. They have two children together and keep their musical partnership alive as well, with Giraldo stepping in as a producer.
February 29, 1980 Oscar Holder, a theatre pianist from Nottingham, marries Janice Rigley. He is 63; she is 19!
September 1, 1979 "You Light Up My Life" singer Debby Boone marries Gabriel Ferrer, son of Rosemary Clooney and actor Jose Ferrer.
September 1, 1978 Steven Tyler of Aerosmith marries the model Cyrinda Foxe, who is pregnant with his baby (daughter Mia). They divorce in 1987.
June 18, 1977 Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, the bass player and drummer (respectively) of Talking Heads, get married. It sticks, and in 2002 they become the first married couple inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when the band is inducted.
March 31, 1974 Tom Petty marries his first wife, Jane Benyo. The couple met when they were both 17, which provides the title for the Stevie Nicks song "Edge Of Seventeen." They have two daughters before their divorce in 1996.
June 25, 1973 Bobby Darin marries his second wife, legal secretary Andrea Yeager. They divorce just four months later, shortly before Darin's death.
January 9, 1973 Lou Reed marries a cocktail waitress named Betty. Not much is known of this union, but apparently it doesn't last very long.
September 1, 1970 The Bee Gees' Barry Gibb marries Linda Gray, the former Miss Edinburgh, on his 24th birthday (he claims he picked the date so he wouldn't forget their anniversary). The couple have five children, including Stephen, who plays guitar in his dad's band.
October 26, 1969 Waylon Jennings marries his fourth wife, Jessi Colter. They remain married until his death in 2002.
July 19, 1969 Jimmy Buffett marries beauty queen Margie Washichek, who was crowned Miss USS Alabama of 1967. They divorce two years later.
May 15, 1965 Burt Bacharach marries his second wife, Angie Dickinson. The composer and the actress stay together for 15 years and share a daughter, Nikki.
December 7, 1964 Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys marries Marilyn Rovell. They remain married until 1979 and have two daughters, Carnie and Wendy, who form the group Wilson Phillips.
January 11, 1963 Despite warnings that a marriage would shatter his image as a teen idol, Frankie Avalon marries former beauty queen Kay Diebel. The union is successful and welcomes eight children, starting with Frankie Jr. in September.
October 12, 1942 Louis Armstrong gets married for the fourth time, to Lucille Wilson. This one takes: they're together until his death in 1971.
July 28, 1941 Judy Garland marries her first husband, composer David Rose. They divorce in 1944.
February 4, 1939 Frank Sinatra marries Nancy Barbato at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Jersey City. They welcome three children - Nancy, Frank Jr., and Tina - before divorcing in 1951.
February 4, 1924 Louis Armstrong marries Lillian Hardin, a pianist with King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, of which he is also a member. Lil encourages her husband's rising career, but the marriage falls apart, ending in a 1938 divorce.
