May 9, 1995 Shaboozey is born Collins Chibueze in Woodbridge, Virginia. He releases his first single in 2014 but doesn't get much attention until 2024, when he shows up on two tracks from Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album. Later that year, his song "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" topples Bey's "Texas Hold 'Em" at #1.

May 2, 1995 Indie rocker Lucy Dacus, co-founder of the band Boygenius, is born. The "Night Shift" singer is raised by her adoptive parents in Mechanicsville, a suburb of Richmond, Virginia. Her upbringing inspires much of her musical output in her solo work, with her adolescence being the foundation of the 2021 album Home Video.

April 16, 1995 Bob Seger has his second child: a daughter named Samantha Char.

April 10, 1995 Lee Greenwood and wife, Kim, welcome a baby boy, Dalton Lee, in Nashville.

February 15, 1995 Megan Thee Stallion is born Megan Pete in San Antonio, Texas. She earns the nickname "Thee Stallion" in high school, a tribute to her size and shape.

August 17, 1994 Singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers is born in Pasadena, California. She acts in TV commercials before launching a solo career and forming the band Boygenius with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.

June 12, 1994 Rapper Don Toliver is born Caleb Zackery Toliver in Houston, Texas. The son of rapper Bongo Toliver, known for singing the chorus on Archie Lee's "Swang Wide," he generates a buzz in the music industry after teaming up with Travis Scott on "Can't Say" in 2018. Before he can even release his debut album, Heaven Or Hell (2020), his popularity explodes on TikTok when "No Idea" and "After Party" go viral.

March 10, 1994 Bad Bunny is born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Almirante Sur, Puerto Rico. He becomes a global superstar with a stronghold in America, where in 2020 his album El Último Tour Del Mundo becomes the first entirely Spanish-language album to hit #1.

February 16, 1994 Ava Max is born Amanda Koçi in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The singer revives dance-pop on the sleepy Billboard Hot 100 when she drops "Sweet But Psycho" in 2018.

January 28, 1994 Latin pop singer/rapper Maluma is born Juan Luis Londoño Arias in Medellin, Colombia. His breakthrough sophomore album, Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy (2015), showcases his dual personality as a pretty boy who sings romantic ballads and a dirty boy who sings reggaeton songs with seductive lyrics. "Borro Cassette," "El Perdedor," and "Sin Contrato" all reach the Top 10 on the Billboard Latin Songs chart.

December 22, 1993 Meghan Trainor is born on the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts. She starts as a songwriter, penning tunes for Rascal Flatts and Sabrina Carpenter before landing a huge hit as a solo artist with her debut single, "All About That Bass," in 2014. In 2022 she grows an enormous following on TikTok, with videos of her song "Made You Look" earning hundreds of millions of views.

October 21, 1993 Country singer Kane Brown is born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After building a following on social media, he lands a record deal in 2016 and breaks through with "What Ifs," a duet with Lauren Alaina, his classmate in high school.

October 9, 1993 Scotty McCreery is born in Garner, North Carolina. At 17, he wins season 10 of American Idol and releases his debut album, Clear As Day, which debuts at #1 on the genre-spanning Billboard 200. The feat makes him the first country singer to debut at the top of the tally with a debut album.

July 19, 1993 Producer Fred again is born Frederick Gibson in South London. After being mentored by Brian Eno, he produces tracks for Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, and many other popular artists. In 2019, four of his productions hit #1 on the UK Singles chart.

July 2, 1993 Rapper Vince Staples is born Compton, California. He's raised in nearby Long Beach, the topic of many songs from his breakout debut album, Summertime '06. In 2024 he gets his own show on Netflix, The Vince Staples Show.

May 31, 1993 Jon Bon Jovi's wife, Dorothea Hurley, gives birth to their first child, a daughter named Stephanie Rose.

April 16, 1993 Chance the Rapper is born Chancelor Bennett in Chicago. He upsets the industry apple cart by making a huge impact while remaining independent, earning most of his revenue early on through live shows and sponsorships.

March 4, 1993 Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown welcome a baby girl, Bobbi Kristina.

January 10, 1993 Rauw Alejandro is born Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After his plans to become a famous soccer player fall through, he settles for international stardom as a Latin R&B/reggaeton singer-songwriter. His first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Latin Songs chart is "Tattoo" from his 2020 debut album, Afrodisiaco. His ensuing releases find the artist constantly reinventing his sound, with forays into dancehall, salsa, Latin trap, electric, and pop music.

October 22, 1992 21 Savage is born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph in London but is raised in Atlanta, where he moves with his family when he's 7. His visa expires in 2006, so he lives as an undocumented immigrant until 2023, when he's granted residency.

October 21, 1992 Elvis' first grandson, Benjamin Storm, is born to Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough.

October 11, 1992 Amy Grant and her songwriter husband Gary Chapman have their third child: Sarah Cannon.

September 25, 1992 The singer Rosalía is born Rosalia Vila Tobella outside of Barcelona, Spain.

September 25, 1992 Teddy Swims is born Jaten Dimsdale in Conyers, Georgia, near Atlanta. His parents push him to play football, but the 5' 7" Swims is much more adept at music, where he can put his rich, soulful voice to use. He releases a series of singles starting in 2019 that go unnoticed until "Lose Control" in 2023, which becomes a #1 hit.

August 2, 1992 Charli XCX is born Charlotte Aitchison in Cambridge, England ("XCX" was her screen name on chats). She's known for high-energy hits like "Boom Clap" and "Speed Drive," and for co-writing and singing the hook on Iggy Azalea's #1 hit "Fancy."

July 22, 1992 Selena Gomez is born in Grand Prairie, Texas. She starts her career in TV, starring in Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place. In 2009 she releases her first album, Kiss & Tell, with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene on Disney's Hollywood Records. Her adult accomplishments include the hits "Lose You to Love Me" and "The Heart Wants What It Wants," and an acclaimed role on the series Only Murders In The Building.
