August 15, 2000 David Bowie's wife, the supermodel Iman, gives birth to their daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones. "The couple are overjoyed," says a spokesman for Bowie. "David assisted in the delivery and he cut the umbilical cord."

August 11, 2000 Madonna gives birth to her second child, Rocco. The father is Guy Ritchie, director of the films Snatch and Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels.

September 7, 1999 Pop singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is born in Los Angeles, California, to filmmaker JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath. The "I Love You, I'm Sorry" singer builds a following during the COVID-19 pandemic by livestreaming shows from her childhood bedroom over Zoom.

June 15, 1999 Peso Pluma, whose music combines corridos and hip-hop, is born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija in Zapopan, Mexico. His stage name means "featherweight" in English, a reference to his slight build.

May 27, 1999 Lionel Richie and his wife Diane Alexander have their first child, Miles Brockman.

December 22, 1998 Singer/rapper Latto is born Alyssa Stephens in Columbus, Ohio. Raised in Atlanta, she lands her big break as the first winner of Jermaine Dupri's reality series The Rap Game. After changing her stage name from Miss Mulatto to Latto, she hits the mainstream with the pop-infused rap song "Big Energy."

April 2, 1996 Zach Bryan is born Okinawa, Japan, where his mother and father are deployed with the US Navy, but he's raised in Oologah, Oklahoma. Zach serves in the Navy for eight years, releasing two albums independently. When he's discharged in 2021, he signs with Warner Records; the following year he has his first hit with "Something In The Orange."

August 22, 1995 Dua Lipa is born in London to parents who immigrated there from Kosovo. Her family moves to Kosovo when she's 11, but Dua convinces them to let her return to London on her own at 15, where she finishes high school and launches her music career.
