1937 Country singer Jeanne Black is born Gloria Jeanne Black in Pomona, California. Known for the 1960 hit "He'll Have to Stay."
1926 Jazz saxophonist Jimmy "Little Bird" Heath is born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
1924 R&B drummer Earl Palmer is born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known for working with a score of artists, including Little Richard and Tom Waits (on Blue Valentine).
1912 Country comedian and Hee Haw regular Minnie Pearl is born Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon in Centerville, Hickman County, Tennessee.

A range of acts salute the singer with covers of some of his most memorable songs, with Chris Stapleton taking on "The Gambler," Lionel Richie singing "Lady," and Don Henley performing the Eagles' "Desperado," which Rogers covered. 1975 Paul Simon issues his fourth solo album, Still Crazy After All These Years. 1961 Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who haven't seen each other since primary school, run into each other at the Dartford train station in England - Keith is on his way to Sidcup Art College; Mick is headed to the London School of Economics. Noticing the Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry albums Mick is carrying, Keith strikes up a conversation. They later form The Rolling Stones.
