May 26, 2022 Pink, who wrote and performed the theme song to The Ellen DeGeneres Show ("Today's The Day"), appears on the last episode, where she sings "What About Us" at Ellen's request.

April 11, 2022 At the CMT Awards, The Judds reunite for their first TV appearance in 20 years, performing their 1990 song "Love Can Build A Bridge." Earlier that day, the mother-daughter duo also announced a 10-date arena run across the US dubbed "The Final Tour," with Martina McBride as a supporting act.

April 18, 2021 The Simpsons parodies Morrissey with the character Quillougby, a British misanthrope who sings "Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You)" with Lisa. "I'm quite used to it," the real Morrissey replies. "I've had enough horror thrown at me that would kill off a herd of bison."

December 16, 2020 After disguising herself as Sun all season, LeAnn Rimes is unmasked as the winner on the season 4 finale of The Masked Singer. She ended her run with an a cappella rendition of Billie Eilish's "When The Party's Over."

June 10, 2020 Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne takes innovative social-distancing measures on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert: The band sings their tune "Race For The Prize" from inside massive plastic bubbles. Each audience member is also enclosed their own bubble to keep the coronavirus at bay.More

June 5, 2019 Miley Cyrus plays an exploited pop star in the "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" episode of Black Mirror. Her character's hit song is a reworking of "Head Like A Hole" as an empowerment anthem called "On A Roll," which is released as a single in real life with a video that gets over 20 million views on YouTube.

September 5, 2018 Fleetwood Mac perform on the show Ellen, debuting their new lineup with Neil Finn and Mike Campbell replacing Lindsey Buckingham, who has been booted.

August 13, 2017 David Bowie makes a posthumous appearance in the TV series Twin Peaks: The Return. The late singer, who made a cameo appearance as a deranged FBI agent in the cult classic's 1991 prequel, Fire Walk With Me, was supposed to return for the show's revival but died before filming. Director David Lynch used archive footage from the movie to bring Bowie to life in the episode.

May 30, 2017 NBC debuts its dance competition series World Of Dance, with executive producer Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough on the judging panel. It runs for four seasons.

May 14, 2017 Johnny Mathis confirms he is gay during an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, saying, "I come from San Francisco. It's not unusual to be gay in San Francisco. I've had some girlfriends, some boyfriends, just like most people. But I never got married, for instance. I knew that I was gay." He had been reluctant to discuss the issue ever since a 1982 Us Magazine article addressing his homosexuality resulted in numerous death threats toward the singer.

January 2, 2017 Arnold Schwarzenegger sends off Carnie Wilson on the first episode of The New Celebrity Apprentice, introducing his new firing line, "You're terminated. Hasta la vista, baby."

December 12, 2015 After going five years without releasing an album, Craig David continues his comeback with a performance at the X Factor finale alongside contestants Reggie 'N' Bollie and Ghanaian singer Fuse ODG. He sings his hit song "Re-Rewind" (originally produced by garage duo Artful Dodger) with a new rap verse.

December 5, 2015 Soul singer Leon Bridges is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, singing "Smooth Sailin'" and "River" from his debut album Coming Home.

November 13, 2015 A Tribe Called Quest re-issue their debut album, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, and perform "Can I Kick It?" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, making their first TV appearance in 15 years. It is their last-ever performance, as Phife Dawg dies four months later.

June 22, 2015 On the reality dating show The Bachelorette, Jared and Kaitlyn visit Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin, where they are serenaded by Noel Hogan and Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries, who perform "Linger." January 31, 2015 Neo soul singer D'Angelo makes his debut appearance on SNL, performing "Really Love" and "The Charade" from his latest album, Black Messiah. His band, the Vanguard, wear T-shirts with the slogans "Black Lives Matter" and "I Can't Breathe" in reference to the controversial deaths of unarmed black men Michael Brown and Eric Garner at the hands of white policemen in 2014. The singer also dons a hooded sweatshirt as a nod to Trayvon Martin, who suffered a similar fate in 2012.
