September 4, 2021 After two pandemic postponements, Harry Styles finally launches his Love On Tour in Las Vegas. The 169-show run stretches nearly two years, selling 5 million tickets and grossing $617 million - more than One Direction earned across their entire career.

September 19, 2017 Harry Styles kicks off his first solo tour with a show at the 3,200-capacity Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, part of a series of small, intimate performances before working his way up to arenas in 2018. Tickets for the initial leg sold out in 29 seconds; the tour ends up selling nearly one million tickets across 89 sold-out shows.

March 28, 2017 Bruno Mars kicks off his 24K Magic World Tour in Antwerp, Belgium. His opening act is Anderson .Paak, whom he meets for the first time. They become fast friends and decide to form a duo that becomes Silk Sonic, an homage to '70s soul that has one of the biggest hits of 2022 with "Leave The Door Open."

February 15, 2011 Ke$ha, with two #1 hits under her glitter-spangled belt ("TiK ToK" and "We R Who We R"), launches her first headline tour, the Get $leazy Tour, in Portland, Oregon. The tour establishes her as a top live act, with a vibe both tacky and decadent.

April 4, 2008 New Kids on the Block announce their upcoming reunion tour during NBC's Today show in New York City.

March 20, 2008 At the O2 Arena in London, the Eagles launch their world tour in support of their album Long Road Out of Eden.

October 18, 2007 Miley Cyrus, who stars on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, kicks off the Best Of Both Worlds Tour in St. Louis with opening act the Jonas Brothers. She does the first half of the show in character as Hannah, then transforms into Miley for the second half.

May 7, 2007 The first and only Hottest Chicks In Metal Tour kicks off in Louisville. All the bands on the tour are fronted by women: Lacuna Coil (Cristina Scabbia), Within Temptation (Sharon den Adel), In This Moment (Maria Brink), The Gathering (Anneke van Giersbergen) and Stolen Babies (Dominique Lenore Persi).

April 12, 2007 In Omaha, Nebraska, Kenny Chesney launches his Flip Flop Summer tour. 17-year-old Taylor Swift was going to be an opening act on the tour but had to bow out when Cruzan Rum came on as a sponsor. Chesney makes it up to her with a note of encouragement and a big check that helps line up her own tour in 2009.

November 11, 2005 Billy Joel begins touring again, launching his first solo tour in eight years.

October 16, 2003 Simon & Garfunkel open their new "Old Friends" Tour with a concert in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

March 12, 2003 The Chinese government gives The Rolling Stones a list of songs they will not be allowed to play on their upcoming tour of the country. The list includes "Brown Sugar," "Honky Tonk Women" and "Let's Spend The Night Together."

October 31, 2001 Having fully recovered from the flu that forced her to restructure the North American tour in support of her third Jive album, Britney, Britney Spears' tour kicks off in Washington, D.C.

September 23, 1997 The Rolling Stones' Bridges to Babylon Tour opens in Chicago. Opening acts for the North American tour include Sheryl Crow, The Dave Matthews Band, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jamiroquai, Blues Traveler and Foo Fighters.

September 20, 1997 Music Festival of India, a touring gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of India's independence gets under way at Cleveland's Masonic Temple.
