October 26, 1964 The Beatles record "Honey Don't" for their Beatles For Sale album after the song's writer, Carl Perkins, visits them in the studio. They also record "What You're Doing," and Another Beatles Christmas Record (a cover of "Jingle Bells," along with holiday greetings to fans).

October 18, 1964 At a nine-hour session at Abbey Road Studios, The Beatles record "Eight Days A Week," "Kansas City"/"Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!," "Mr. Moonlight," "I Feel Fine," "I'll Follow The Sun," "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby," "Rock And Roll Music," and "Words Of Love."

September 25, 1964 The Temptations record "My Girl."

August 13, 1964 The Supremes record "Baby Love" at Motown studios. The song is inspired by a girl who had the heart of Lamont Dozier, who wrote the song with Eddie and Brian Holland. This team of Holland-Dozier-Holland wrote most of the hits for the group.

August 5, 1964 The Beach Boys record "When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)."

July 16, 1964 Country singer Connie Smith records her debut single, "Once A Day," at RCA's Studio B in Nashville.

June 17, 1964 Jay & the Americans record "Come A Little Bit Closer."

June 12, 1964 The Zombies record "She's Not There."

June 10, 1964 Elvis Presley records "Puppet On A String," "The Meanest Girl In Town," and "Girl Happy."

May 28, 1964 Marianne Faithfull records "As Tears Go By."

May 21, 1964 The Drifters record "Under The Boardwalk" the day after their lead singer, Rudy Lewis, is found dead. He is replaced by former member Johnny Moore.

May 18, 1964 The Animals record the folk song "House Of The Rising Sun" in a matter of minutes at a London studio. A few months later, it becomes a huge hit, going to #1 in both the UK and US.

May 14, 1964 Jan & Dean record "Little Old Lady (From Pasadena)."

April 8, 1964 The Supremes record "Where Did Our Love Go," which becomes their breakout hit.

March 26, 1964 Chuck Berry records "No Particular Place To Go."

March 10, 1964 Simon and Garfunkel record "The Sound Of Silence."
