March 12, 2007 Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Patti Smith, R.E.M., The Ronettes and Van Halen are inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in New York City.

November 21, 2006 Black Eyed Peas take home three awards at the 2006 American Music Awards, held at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium and broadcast live on ABC. The Peas, which accept the awards via satellite from Costa Rica, are named favorite group in the soul/R&B and rap/hip-hop categories, and pick up honors for favorite album (Monkey Business) in the rap/hip-hop genre.

November 2, 2006 Surprising no one, Shakira is the big winner at the seventh annual Latin Grammy Awards, taking home four statues during the ceremony at Madison Square Garden. The Colombian pop star wins song and record of the year awards for "La Tortura," a duet with Spaniard Alejandro Sanz. She also receives trophies for female pop vocal album and album of the year for her Spanish-language Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1.

November 2, 2006 Justin Timberlake hosts the MTV Europe Music Awards, where he also wins for Best Male Artist and Best Pop Artist. Gnarls Barkley wins Best Song for "Crazy."

October 17, 2006 Stevie Wonder receives a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis.

October 3, 2006 "Listen to Your Heart," the power-ballad written by Per Gessle and Mats Persson, scoops a raft of prestigious honors at the 2006 BMI London Awards, presented at the Dorchester Hotel. Among other honors, the track receives the organization's highest accolade, the Robert S. Musel Award, for the most-performed song of the year.

September 28, 2006 The Grascals claim the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 17th annual International Bluegrass Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

September 22, 2006 The Big Bopper, who died in the plane crash with Buddy Holly, is honored with a historical marker in his hometown of Beaumont, Texas.

June 17, 2006 Rolf Harris is honored with a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II.

May 20, 2006 Hawthorne, California, dedicates a monument to their famous hometown sons: the three Wilson brothers of The Beach Boys.

March 29, 2006 Tom Jones is knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.

February 15, 2006 The gravesite of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia is classified with a heritage listing.

November 25, 2005 Country music makes itself comfortable all around New York when the Country Music Association holds its 39th annual CMA Awards show at Madison Square Garden.

November 16, 2005 Pink Floyd, The Kinks and Eurythmics are among the honorees inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. The second annual show, which takes place in a ceremony at London's Alexandra Palace, features some momentous reunions, including the gathering of the original Kinks and a performance by the classic line-up of Black Sabbath, featuring Ozzy Osbourne.

November 15, 2005 Alabama, Glen Campbell and DeFord Bailey are inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

November 12, 2005 Mariah Carey wins Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for The Emancipation of Mimi and R&B Voice of the Year and Best R&B Song for "We Belong Together" at the Vibe Awards.

November 8, 2005 French female artist Camille receives the Prix Constantin during a show held at the Olympia venue in Paris. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter wins for her second album, Le Fil (Virgin). The prize jury includes 18 media and retail professionals and is chaired by French rocker Alain Bashung.

November 3, 2005 Colombian vocalist Juanes adds more statues to his mantel with three wins during the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Juanes, who is the all-time leader with nine wins going into the event, takes home awards for best rock solo vocal album for Mi Sangre, best rock song for "Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor" and best music video for "Volverte a Ver."

October 27, 2005 The family band Cherryholmes gets the entertainer of the year award at the 16th Annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, becoming the first act nominated for emerging artist and entertainer in the same year.

October 19, 2005 Yusuf Islam, the singer/songwriter formerly know as Cat Stevens, is named songwriter of the year at the ASCAP Awards in London. Islam also receives the song of the year honor for "First Cut Is The Deepest," which was first released in 1967.

August 26, 2005 A post office in Los Angeles is officially renamed after singer Ray Charles due to its close proximity to the studio where he recorded later in life.

June 10, 2005 Ottawa Governor General Adrienne Clarkson officially makes Paul Anka an Officer of the Order of Canada.

May 7, 2005 Giacomo, owned by A&M Records founder Jerry Moss, wins the Kentucky Derby at 50-to-1 odds.

March 17, 2005 Robert Plant is presented with his lifetime achievement Grammy award at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

March 14, 2005 In New York City, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts Percy Sledge, The O'Jays, U2, Buddy Guy, and The Pretenders.

December 5, 2004 In Washington D.C., Elton John receives a Kennedy Center honor.

November 9, 2004 Kenny Chesney is the big winner at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Chesney, who had never won a CMA award, scores both the Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year trophies. The latter is for his No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems set.

November 8, 2004 Brad Paisley, Chris DuBois, Neil Thrasher, and Emmylou Harris and EMI Music Publishing are the top honorees at the 42nd Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, held at Nashville's Opryland Hotel.

November 3, 2004 Eric Clapton is made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace.
