January 31, 2010 The Record Academy honors Leonard Cohen with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. During his acceptance speech, Cohen comments on his surprise at receiving a Grammy, joking that he "was always touched by the modesty of [the Recording Academy's] interest in my work."

March 10, 2008 Dapperly dressed in a classic black tuxedo, Leonard Cohen appears on stage in New York for his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame along with Madonna, John Mellencamp, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures. In his acceptance speech, Cohen paraphrases a famous quote by record producer and current chairman of the Hall's nominating committee, Jon Landau: "I have seen the future of rock & roll, and it is not Leonard Cohen."

April 24, 2006 Billy Joel becomes the first non-athlete to earn a banner at Madison Square Garden when he sells out the venue for the 12th time on his tour. His #12 hangs alongside retired greats who played in the Garden like Willis Reed, Walt Frazier and Mark Messier.More

December 1, 2005 Rocky Horror Picture Show is entered into the National Film Registry.

November 1, 2005 Black Sabbath is inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame by Brian May of Queen. The band plays "Paranoid" at the ceremony and Ozzy moons the crowd, feeling that they aren't rocking hard enough.

February 13, 2005 Ray Charles, who died eight months earlier, wins five Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year for Genius Loves Company (beating out Green Day's American Idiot and Usher's Confessions). Also on the show, Wilco win Best Alternative Music Album for A Ghost Is Born, and Melissa Etheridge, bald from breast cancer treatments, performs an inspirational tribute to Janis Joplin.

October 17, 2004 At the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Music Awards, Jet dominates the competition, winning awards for six of their seven nominations, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group and Breakthrough Artist. During the ceremony Nic Chester performs as a member of the Australian super-group The Wrights.

August 29, 2004 Jet take home the award for Best Rock Video for "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" at the MTV Video Music Awards and perform the song live during the strangely un-hosted ceremony at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

February 28, 2004 Gigli sweeps the 24th Golden Raspberry Awards with nine nominations and six wins, including Worst Actress for star Jennifer Lopez and Worst Actor for Ben Affleck (whose award also includes his roles in Daredevil and Paycheck). Despite having a highly publicized off-screen romance, the pair also lands Worst Screen Couple.

February 8, 2004 Pink wins her first solo Grammy Award when her Try This single "Trouble" is named Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. She previously earned a trophy for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals in 2002 alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mýa for their rendition of "Lady Marmalade."

November 5, 2003 Jimmy Buffett wins his first Country Music Association Award when "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," a duet with Alan Jackson, is named Vocal Event of the Year.
