January 31, 2010 The Record Academy honors Leonard Cohen with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. During his acceptance speech, Cohen comments on his surprise at receiving a Grammy, joking that he "was always touched by the modesty of [the Recording Academy's] interest in my work."

In his acceptance speech, Cohen paraphrases a famous quote by record producer and current chairman of the Hall's nominating committee, Jon Landau: "I have seen the future of rock & roll, and it is not Leonard Cohen."

February 13, 2005 Ray Charles, who died eight months earlier, wins five Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year for Genius Loves Company (beating out Green Day's American Idiot and Usher's Confessions). Also on the show, Wilco win Best Alternative Music Album for A Ghost Is Born, and Melissa Etheridge, bald from breast cancer treatments, performs an inspirational tribute to Janis Joplin.

October 17, 2004 At the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Music Awards, Jet dominates the competition, winning awards for six of their seven nominations, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group and Breakthrough Artist. During the ceremony Nic Chester performs as a member of the Australian super-group The Wrights.

August 29, 2004 Jet take home the award for Best Rock Video for "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" at the MTV Video Music Awards and perform the song live during the strangely un-hosted ceremony at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.
