February 27, 2001 Carlos Santana (Santana) returns to the Mexican town where he grew up, Autlan De Navarro, for the first time in 46 years. A statue honor of Carlos and his father, mariachi player Jose Santana, is unveiled.

February 13, 2001 Peter Frampton is recognized in the guitar community with the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award.

November 13, 2000 Alejandro Sanz caps a triumphant week when he wins awards for Spanish male artist and Spanish album at the Premios Amigo. The week before Sanz won identical awards at the 47th Premios Ondas.

November 6, 2000 Alejandro Sanz picks up two of the 14 music awards at the 47th Premios Ondas, presented in Barcelona. Sanz wins the album category for El Alma Al Aire, and the honor for best Spanish artist.

October 31, 2000 Travis is named the best act in the world at the Q Awards 2000, presented in London. Badly Drawn Boy wins for best new act; Coldplay's Parachutes is named best album. The awards are voted on by readers of Q Magazine and via a telephone system operated by the event's sponsor.

October 24, 2000 Past Country Music Association entertainer of the year and ex-Hee Haw host Roy Clark joins the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

October 7, 2000 Howard Stern is named nationally syndicated personality of the year at the Billboard/Airplay Monitor Radio Awards.

October 4, 2000 Teenage UK R&B vocalist Craig David wins a record three MasterCard Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards at London's Alexandra Palace. He is named Best UK Newcomer and wins awards for Best R&B Act and Best UK Single for "Fill Me In."

September 21, 2000 Canadian rock group the Matthew Good Band is the big winner at the MuchMusic Video Awards, Canada's annual music video competition. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based group collects prizes for Best Rock Video and Best Video for its "Load Me Up" single.

September 20, 2000 Traditional country music singer and yodeler Don Walser receives the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Award during ceremonies at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

September 19, 2000 It's "Kenny Chesney Day" in the singer's hometown of Luttrell, Tennessee. Chesney returns to Gibbs High School, where the faculty tells stories about his exploits.

September 17, 2000 The governor of Georgia inducts Trisha Yearwood into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

August 23, 2000 Kenny Loggins is awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

July 12, 2000 London's Trafalgar Square unveils a sculpture of John Lennon, created by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reutersward, which also features a handgun twisted into an unusable shape.

December 30, 1999 Slade singer Noddy Holder is awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II, and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits is awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire).

November 15, 1999 People magazine declares Tim McGraw the sexiest man in country music. McGraw says as long as his wife, Faith Hill, thinks he's sexy, that's all that matters to him.

November 12, 1999 Kid Rock and Lauryn Hill top the 1999 Billboard Music Video Awards, held at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.

November 11, 1999 A teenaged Britney Spears wins for Best Female, Best Pop, Breakthrough Artist and Best Song ("Baby One More Time") at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin.

November 6, 1999 Bill Miller takes home top honors at the second annual Native American Music Awards, presented at Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque. Miller wins five honors, including artist of the year, songwriter, male artist, and song ("Ghostdance").

November 1, 1999 Celine Dion is inducted into the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame during the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Gold Ribbon Awards gala in Montreal. Dion joins Bryan Adams and Anne Murray for the accolade.

October 7, 1999 The first and only ARTISTdirect Online Music Awards are held at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, with winners selected in online voting. Winners include Madonna (Favorite Female Artist), Ricky Martin (Favorite Male Artist) and Nine Inch Nails (Favorite Alternative Fan Site). Chris Isaak, Cypress Hill, No Doubt and The Offspring all perform.

October 4, 1999 15-year-old country music singer Jessica Andrews is honored in her native Carroll County, Tennessee, where she receives the first-ever Youth Achievement Award.

September 22, 1999 Vince Gill competes with himself in the vocal event category at the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville. Gill is up with Patty Loveless for "My Kind of Woman/My Kind of Man" and with Sara Evans for "No Place That Far."

August 11, 1999 Kiss are awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

August 3, 1999 Country legend Patsy Cline is awarded a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

July 21, 1999 Charley Pride receives a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

June 16, 1999 Phil Collins gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

March 15, 1999 Curtis Mayfield, Del Shannon, Dusty Springfield, Paul McCartney, The Staple Singers, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Springsteen reunites with the E Street Band to perform at the ceremony.

February 16, 1999 Robbie Williams wins three Brit Awards, taking the trophies for Best Male British Solo Artist, Best British Single ("Angels") and Best British Video ("Millenium"). The Corrs take the trophy for Best International Group and perform "Runaway" and "Haste to the Wedding" at the ceremony.

February 2, 1999 Freddy Fender is awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
